Global automation leader Emerson today announced enhancements to its NI SystemLink™ software, expanding the connected test operations software with resource scheduling and NI Nigel™ AI capabilities to help engineering teams spend less time searching for information and more time validating products, resolving issues and increasing test throughput. Customer case studies have shown a 95 percent decrease in hours per week spent on reporting and analysis when using NI SystemLink. These updates to the NI SystemLink software were showcased at NI Days Japan during the event’s keynote.
“Engineering organizations are under pressure to deliver increasingly complex products without slowing development cycles,” said Siddarth Sethi, vice president of test and analytics software with Emerson’s test and measurement business. “NI SystemLink is evolving into the operational backbone for modern test teams, connecting data with the systems, assets, schedules and software versions behind every result. This helps engineers understand not only what happened, but why it happened. This leads to faster decisions and more efficient test operations. Whether an organization is just beginning to modernize its test operations or scaling across multiple sites, NI SystemLink provides options that meet teams where they are and help them grow without taking on the long-term cost and complexity of building and maintaining custom infrastructure.”
Engineering organizations across industries including semiconductor, aerospace and defense, automotive and electronics rely on test to validate product performance, quality and reliability throughout the product lifecycle. As products grow in complexity, requirements increase and time to develop decreases, engineering teams often struggle to connect test results with the operational context needed to understand failures, identify what changed and make informed decisions.
Test data alone rarely provides enough information to understand why a failure occurred. Engineers often need to correlate results with equipment status, software versions, test schedules, configurations and workflow history stored across multiple systems. NI SystemLink helps incorporate operational context into test results by bringing data, assets, software and
workflows together in a single environment, enabling engineers to identify root causes faster and make more informed decisions. This reduces time spent searching for information and has helped organizations achieve up to 2x higher daily test throughput.
New capabilities within NI SystemLink include:
· A new SystemLink experience – introducing simplified software offerings, streamlined licensing, modernized workflows and improved deployment options that help organizations get started faster.
· Connected test planning and resource scheduling – helping teams coordinate equipment, resources and testing activities across the lab, improving utilization and reducing bottlenecks.
· Out-of-the-box operational visibility – offering preconfigured dashboards and workflows that accelerate deployment while maintaining the flexibility to customize as needs evolve.
· AI-powered engineering insights – integrating NI Nigel AI with the test and operational context in NI SystemLink to help engineers identify issues, uncover trends and make more informed decisions.
Since its introduction in 2018, NI SystemLink has evolved from a systems management solution into a connected test operations platform. The latest release introduces new software offerings that make it easier for organizations of any size to adopt connected test operations through a stronger out-of-the-box experience, streamlined deployment and simplified licensing. At the same time, SystemLink continues to provide the flexibility, extensibility and scalability required by organizations with highly customized workflows and enterprise-wide test operations.
