SK hynix is expanding its support programs for suppliers. The company will double its funding for supplier payments and share some of the risks associated with research and development (R&D).

SK hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung said at the "2026 Partners Day" on September 28, "SK hynix has been able to grow into a global company leading the artificial intelligence (AI) era thanks to the support of our suppliers over the past 25 years. Let's open another 25 years by building the future together on the trust we have developed."

Partners Day was held to mark the 25th anniversary of the launch of SK hynix's Shared Growth Council. Kwak, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Cha Sun-yong, Chief Production Officer (CPO) Lee Byung-ki, other SK hynix executives and working-level managers, council member companies and outstanding suppliers attended the event.

SK hynix outlined a four-stage support program for supplier growth. The measures elaborate on some of the shared-growth initiatives announced by SK Group at a July signing ceremony for an agreement between SK and its suppliers. SK hynix said at the time that it would use 1.4 trillion won in shared-growth funds over five years.

At the technology development stage, promising suppliers will be selected as technology innovation companies and receive intellectual-property support and test materials. SK hynix will also introduce an R&D Challenge Reward Program, which provides funding for supplier technology development in advance. The company will provide up to 50% of initial development costs and settle the remaining amount separately after development is completed, taking performance and contribution into account. The program is designed to prevent suppliers from abandoning technology development because of funding shortages and reduce the risks associated with failure. Technical contributions will also be recognized even if development fails.

At the testing and validation stage, SK hynix will provide testbeds to demonstrate technologies under development. An analysis and measurement support center will conduct detailed analysis and reliability assessments. Suppliers will be able to conduct precision analysis of new products using high-cost equipment. SK hynix will also continue its performance evaluation program, which directly places supplier equipment and materials on production lines to certify yields and help suppliers establish product competitiveness.

SK hynix is also building the Trinity Fab in the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster, targeting an opening next year. The 1,000-pyeong testbed will verify the reliability of products from materials, parts and equipment companies. Suppliers will be able to test the reliability of new-technology components and equipment under the same conditions as mass-production lines. The facility is expected to shorten testing periods and costs and accelerate commercialization.

At the third, mass-production stage, SK hynix will support investment in mass-production equipment and production capabilities. The company will provide low-interest loans through its Shared Growth Fund and expand its supplier consulting program, which provides professional management diagnostics and advice, to second- and third-tier suppliers.

At the final sales stage, SK hynix will continue operating its shared-growth payment system and expand its supplier payment support fund. Suppliers using the shared-payment system will receive incentives. Under the system, second- and third-tier suppliers can receive payments earlier than before by using funds held in dedicated deposit accounts. The program is aimed at easing the financial burden on small and midsize suppliers.

The supplier payment support fund will be doubled to 100 billion won from 50 billion won. The fund is designed to provide suppliers with cash liquidity. Rather than SK hynix depositing the funds with banks and receiving interest income, the company provides benefits such as low-interest loans to outstanding first- and second-tier suppliers. The measure is intended to help small and midsize suppliers that need faster cash circulation operate their businesses more smoothly.

SK hynix will also continue programs to help suppliers secure talent. These include Hy-Five, which links recruitment of young workers at suppliers with job training and internships; Semiconductor Academy, which provides practical training; and the Semiconductor Shared-Growth CEO Seminar, an executive education program for supplier management.

The Shared Growth Council is a body operated by SK hynix to strengthen collaboration with outstanding materials, parts and equipment suppliers. Member companies receive various benefits, including joint research, technology development, information sharing, financial support, infrastructure sharing and talent development.

The council was launched in 2001 as the "Hynix Council" with 79 outstanding suppliers. During a management crisis in 2008, members participated in the company's recovery efforts by agreeing to defer wages. After SK hynix joined the SK Group in 2012, the organization was reorganized as the Shared Growth Council in 2014.

At the 25th-anniversary ceremony, a video documenting the council's history was shown, followed by a ceremony honoring former chairmen and owners of holding companies affiliated with council members. Former chairmen were also appointed to newly established honorary chairman positions.

Kwak presented a 25th-anniversary plaque to Hwang Cheol-joo, chairman of the Shared Growth Council. Eleven outstanding suppliers received awards in four categories: technology innovation, quality improvement, shared growth and sustainable management (ESG).
