Super Micro Computer (Supermicro) said it is shipping NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 racks integrating its Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) and Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC-2) technology stack.
Supermicro said its in-house DLC-2 technology enables it to provide a highly integrated solution for the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform. The NVL72 rack is designed around direct liquid cooling, which the company said enables high AI processing performance per watt that would be difficult to achieve with air cooling alone.
The company said it designs and builds every component, from cold plates to cooling towers, and tests and validates all racks with the complete liquid-cooling system integrated. This, it said, reduces the time required from on-site deployment to operational startup.
Supermicro said, "As AI computing performance increases, so does the amount of heat generated, making it necessary to effectively transfer the heat through the entire coolant circulation system, from cold plates and manifolds to cooling towers."

Alongside this, Supermicro is leveraging its thermal-management expertise accumulated through DCBBS to offer a range of liquid-cooling components through its in-house portfolio. These include cold plates, manifolds, hose kits, rack power shelves, in-row cooling distribution units (CDUs), in-rack CDUs, liquid-to-air sidecar CDUs, rear-door heat exchangers and facility-side cooling towers.
According to Supermicro, customers can order scalable units and receive systems that are fully integrated end to end and ready for deployment in commercial environments. The company said it supports the entire process, from mechanical design of individual system nodes to large-scale manufacturing of liquid-cooled racks and on-site deployment of clusters based on NVIDIA's reference architecture.
