The Tokyo-based memory-storage maker has been speaking with lenders such as Bank of America, Goldman Sachs Group and JPMorgan Chase on an offering that could take place in 2027, Bloomberg reports.

Japanese chipmaker Kioxia is considering raising at least USD 10 billion by listing American depositary receipts, according to Bloomberg.

The Tokyo-based memory-storage maker has been speaking with lenders such as Bank of America, Goldman Sachs Group and JPMorgan Chase on an offering that could take place in 2027, sources told Bloomberg.

Kioxia wants to gain more liquidity in the US and potentially join a semiconductor-focused stock index.

“While the Company is preparing to list American Depositary Shares representing its common shares on a US stock exchange to steadily and sustainably increase corporate value, details of the listing such as the schedule, listing market, and listing method have not yet been decided, and the Company may decide not to continue pursuing the listing depending on the circumstances over the course of the preparation,” Kioxia said in a statement responding to the Bloomberg report.

Kioxia and US-based Sandisk recently said they planned to invest more than USD 31 ‌billion in Japan through 2032 to drive semiconductor technology and expand production capacity. But the joint investment is contingent on “government support.” As part of the six-year investment plan, a new memory chip production facility will be built at Kioxia’s Kitakami plant in northern Japan.
