WB Electronics, part of Poland's WB Group, and Norway's Kongsberg have signed a cooperation agreement to develop unmanned maritime systems. The companies aim to jointly create autonomous platforms equipped with reconnaissance systems, communications, command-and-control solutions, and weapon systems.
WB Electronics, a subsidiary of Poland's WB Group, has entered into a partnership with Norwegian defense company Kongsberg to develop a new generation of unmanned maritime platforms. The agreement combines the expertise of both companies in the design, integration, and production of multi-role systems for military customers.
The joint project will focus on developing autonomous maritime vessels equipped with multi-sensor reconnaissance systems. The platforms will integrate electro-optical and electronic intelligence capabilities, along with additional sensors designed for operations in maritime environments.
"Security requires genuine cooperation — between nations, armed forces, and industry. By combining Polish and Norwegian expertise, technologies, and manufacturing capabilities, we can jointly create world-class solutions capable of operating in the Baltic Sea as well as other maritime theaters" - said Piotr Wojciechowski, CEO of WB Group.
The scope of the partnership extends beyond surveillance capabilities. According to the agreement, the systems under development will be capable of integrating various effectors designed to engage maritime targets, enabling the platforms to perform both reconnaissance and strike missions.
The partnership also draws on both companies' experience in crewed and uncrewed systems, air defense, weapon systems, communications, and command-and-control (C2) technologies. A key element of the project will be the development of a common architecture integrating sensors, command systems, and strike capabilities.
"This agreement is a natural step toward building lasting operational cooperation between Poland and Norway. By combining our expertise in maritime systems, unmanned technologies, and command-and-control solutions, we are creating capabilities that will genuinely enhance security in the Baltic and beyond. For Kongsberg, this is a strategic partnership built on trust, technology, and shared values" - said Ronny Langset Opsjøen, Vice President for New Business Development at Kongsberg.
The new solutions are being designed to operate in the demanding conditions of the Baltic Sea, although their use will not be limited to that region. The companies expect the systems to be deployable in operations across other maritime theaters as well.
WB Group is Poland's largest manufacturer of military communications and command-and-control technologies. The company also develops surveillance and reconnaissance systems, fire-control solutions, strike capabilities, cybersecurity technologies, and modernization solutions for military equipment.
