The Spark fund will be managed by the group’s venture capital arm, Bosch Ventures, and will start investing on 1 January 2027, according to a press release from Bosch. It will back German deep-tech startups at all stages, with an emphasis on seed and early-stage rounds, and will also support successful portfolio companies in later financing rounds. Investments will be made across Germany, but the fund will also specifically target startups in Baden-Württemberg, Bosch’s home state.
“Germany’s startup landscape is not only attractive from a technological standpoint, but it also holds great potential for our growth areas. Through financing, collaborations, and partnerships, we want to gain greater access to new business models and disruptive technologies that have the potential to transform entire markets. At the same time, our Spark fund also strengthens the German innovation ecosystem,” says Christian Fischer, chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH.
Spark is a standalone offering for German startups and complements Bosch Ventures’ global funds. Bosch Ventures has committed more than EUR 1 billion across its funds since it was founded, and launched its sixth fund in 2025. Since 2007, it has invested in well over 100 startups worldwide and currently has around 70 active investments, focused on automation, electrification, AI and medical technology. German holdings include Dresden-based Ferroelectric Memory, which develops memory solutions, vector database developer Qdrant in Berlin and 4screen in Munich.
Alongside the funding, Bosch wants the startups to work closely with its own business units. Through its Open Bosch programme, launched in 2018, startups can become suppliers, customers or technology partners to the group. The programme has led to several hundred partnerships, more than a quarter of them in Germany.
“When startups and established companies pool their strengths, solutions are developed more quickly, thus increasing the efficiency of innovation. Our Spark fund is designed to promote this sort of collaboration so that promising technologies from German startups can keep pace with the rest of the world,” said Ingo Ramesohl, Managing Director of Bosch Ventures.
