A Chinese court has ordered the freezing of equity interests in five Nexperia subsidiaries in China, valued at approximately CNY 2.14 billion, approximately EUR 274 million. The order was obtained by Wingtech, Nexperia's Chinese parent, in connection with an ongoing lawsuit seeking CNY 8 billion in damages.
The Dongguan Intermediate People's Court in Guangdong Province issued the preservation order on August 28, freezing Nexperia B.V.'s stakes in four Chinese entities and ITEC B.V.'s stake in a fifth. The frozen equity interests will remain in place until August 2029, according to a filing published by Wingtech.
The underlying lawsuit, filed in May 2026, names Nexperia B.V., ITEC B.V. and three members of Nexperia's executive management as defendants. Wingtech alleges the defendants unlawfully implemented discriminatory restrictive measures that caused the company irreparable losses.
Nexperia dismissed the significance of the order in its own statement. The frozen entities, it said, have been operating outside Nexperia's governance structures since October 2025 and play no part in its current operations.
"Property preservation orders of this kind are a routine procedural step in Chinese civil litigation, often easily granted and made without a ruling on the merits of the underlying claims," the company said.
As previously reported, the lawsuit invokes China's Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, which allows Chinese companies to counter what they deem illegitimate foreign interference.
Nexperia has previously stated that it's been building capacity in Malaysia and the Philippines and expanding partnerships outside China, reinforcing supply chain resilience and contributing to a more geographically balanced manufacturing footprint.
